Community Choir

Saturday we went to "The Methodist Church" to be part of their performance. Jogi (we had dinner with him and the Lierly's and he is president of the choir) called me the middle of last week and said the lady who was suppose to perform suddently dropped out. Could I play. I told him I would come to the church and he could listen to me play to see if he still wanted me! I only have a small amount of music with me and it is all church music but he seemed to like what I have and so did John the choir director so they put me on the program. We show up saturday night and "low and behold".......there is a lady practicing a piece and she is magnificent! So I asked, "Why doesn't she play instead of me?" There answer was, "She's a Concert Pianist and won't!" I tried to say I couldn't play anything like her and maybe I should drop out! But they said please, no.......we would like you to play! So I just said that I would. I did OK considering I was under a handicap! First....the sustain pedal kept sticking. I would kick it and it would unstick and then it would stick again. 2nd....the concert pianist and the choir accompanist paper clipped my sheet music (the air conditioning was blowing the papers everywhere so they thought they were helping) but I couldn't turn my pages because they did such a great job!!! All in all we decided I did a good job and didn't loose face! They still want us to join the choir......that's a good sign! (they are a good choir of about 20 people of all walks of life)
