Charminar

Charminar.....is an area (where the heavier population of Muslim starts to live) but it is also one of the magnificent structures built by Mohammand the 5th ruler of the Quatub Shahi dynasty and also the founder of the city. It also has a mosque on the western section of the 2nd floor and 45 prayer spaces with an open courtyard in front. There are lots of theries as to why it was built but I don't think anyone knows for sure. In the 18th century one of the French commanders made Charminar his headquarters.
1st & 3rd picture are views of the city from atop Charminar. 1st picture shows traffic when it is slow. It's afternoon and people take from 2-4 p.m. off for resting. It's hot and they close up and nap. Even auto drivers will just sit in their auto's along side of the road. If you ask them for a ride they will tell you NO. 3rd picture it's just starting to get busy again. I haven't been able to take a really good picture of the traffic yet! 2nd picture is inside Charminar.
When you look at the city from the highest point in Hyderabad area, all you see is city for as far as the eye can see in any direction!! I think it is the city that never ends. And we live somewhere in the middle of all of it!!
